Digital Public Address System for road tunnels

smartVES is a digital public address system designed for road tunnel applications. The system is based on a network of smart-CU11 audio processors connected in a TCP/IP architecture. This ensures redundancy, scalability, and operational continuity. Each smart-CU11 processor manages power amplifiers, including a backup amplifier, minimizing the risk of communication interruptions.

smartVES offers monitoring and safety features, including auto-diagnostics of all components (processors, amplifiers, microphone consoles) and loudspeaker lines. Personnel have constant insight into system status, enabling rapid identification and response to issues.

A key advantage of smartVES in the tunnel environment is digital audio processing with time delay functionality (up to 30 seconds). This is essential for minimizing echo and resonance, ensuring fully intelligible messages even for persons in moving vehicles. This is critical for effective evacuation and safety.

smartVES integrates digitally with external systems such as SCADA, radio systems (RF), PSIM, and Intercom Systems. It utilizes open protocols (SNMP, BACNET, SIP, UDP/RTP), guaranteeing data exchange and automation of alarm and information processes. This enables both automatic message generation and event reporting, supporting effective crisis management.

Intercom System

For two-way critical communication

The intercom system is a tool for two-way voice communication in road tunnels, critical for emergency management and efficient operational service. It enables information exchange between the operator in the Tunnel Management Center and facility users as well as technical services working in the tunnel.

The system is based on the tunnel's TCP/IP network and uses the SIP protocol for communication between operator consoles and emergency intercoms. It includes a management server, with redundancy capability, responsible for synchronization, supervision of system elements, and integration with external systems. The server also provides audio recording, which is valuable support for subsequent event analysis.

Intercoms designed for tunnel applications are characterized by exceptional resistance to harsh environmental conditions, including moisture, vibrations, and variable temperatures. To ensure maximum speech intelligibility in the acoustically challenging tunnel environment, the tunnel intercom system is equipped with advanced digital audio processing tools (e.g., noise reduction and echo cancellation), guaranteeing message clarity even in noisy surroundings.
